Treetop Cafe Logo Screen Print

In Graphic Design

This Treetop Cafe logo screen print art project was begun before the shop open in 2016. It was started when the timber has arrived in the warehouse in March 2016. It was the first screenprint art that I have involved throughout my career. Started with the measurement of the timber, I continued to research about screen print and silhouette design technique and design the prototype to show the final artwork on the timber surface. I also decided to re-shape the original Treetop Cafe logo into the timber surface using Adobe Illustrator.

Screen print template design simulation

Screen Print Film development technique
After the prototype design has been approved, it continued into the template design and cutting phase. With limited artwork tools, I chose the traditional method of screen print technique – with standard papers and additional second layer painting paper as a screen print film at this stage. The paper was cut with and placed on the timber for painting. The whole process took a day to complete.

This video documentation show how I cut the Treetop cafe logo with limited artwork tools in the office studio.

Finishing process
After the timber has been painted, the last stage of this screenprint process was to remove the paper film from the timber and brought the painted timber to the cafe shop in Waterloo.

Client: Treetop Cafe of Waterloo
Design application: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
Date: 19 March 2016

I am thankful to the client and to my employer who has given me enough workspace and the time to complete the entire process. I believe this whole process gives me the idea and the process of the stencil design and screenprint technique on a large surface.
